The silicon content helps reduce the melting point and improve fluidity, resulting in better weldability.5000 series aluminum alloys, containing magnesium, are also suitable for laser welding. They have good corrosion resistance and strength, but care must be taken to avoid cracking due to high thermal expansion and contraction.The 6000 series aluminum alloys can be more challenging to laser weld compared to the 4000 and 5000 series. These alloys can be prone to hot cracking during welding due to the presence of both magnesium and silicon.
